Cookies and storage

This website doesn't set any cookies. There's no analytics, no advertising and no embedded content from other companies, which is why you didn't see a cookie banner.

The only thing the site stores is your light or dark mode choice, and only if you press the switch. It's kept in your own browser's local storage so the site looks the way you left it next time. It's never sent anywhere, and clearing this site's data in your browser removes it.

Nothing is loaded from any other server. The font, styles, scripts and map are all hosted on this site.

Hosting

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service run by GitHub, Inc. When your browser requests a page, GitHub's servers receive technical details such as your IP address, and GitHub keeps logs of those requests for security and to keep the service running. I have no access to those logs.

How GitHub handles that information is set out in the GitHub General Privacy Statement.

Connection security

Every page is served over HTTPS, so the connection between your browser and the site is encrypted. The pages also carry a content security policy that stops them loading scripts, styles or fonts from anywhere else.

Links to other sites

Links to GitHub and LinkedIn take you to those services, and their own privacy policies apply once you're there. The links are set up so those sites aren't told which page you came from.

If you email me

I'll use your email address and whatever you send only to reply to you. I won't add you to a mailing list or pass your details on.

Your rights

If you're in the EU or UK, the GDPR gives you rights over your personal data, including the right to ask what's held about you and to have it deleted. This site doesn't collect personal data itself, so usually there's nothing to hand over. You're still welcome to ask, and you can complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland if you're unhappy with how your data is handled.

The Archivo typeface is by the Archivo Project Authors and used under the SIL Open Font License. Map outlines come from Natural Earth, which is in the public domain.

Changes

If I ever add something that changes this, such as analytics, this page will be updated first and the date above will change.
